Homemade Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • For the apple filling:
  • 4 cups sliced Honeycrisp apples, unpeeled (1/4″ thick)
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch Kosher salt
  • For the crisp topping:
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp cold butter, cubed
  • Large pinch Kosher salt

      Directions

      1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9″ cast iron skillet or 8×8″ baking dish.
      2. Toss apples, lemon juice, sugar, flour, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl. Place in dish.
      3. In another bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, and salt until crumbly.
      4. Evenly distribute crisp topping over apples.
      5. Bake 30 min, or until apples are fork tender and topping is deep golden brown.
      6. Serve hot with ice cream or whipped cream.

      Tips for Meal prep

      Prep filling and topping separately for up to 24 hours; bake fresh before serving.

      Store leftovers in fridge, reheating in oven to restore crispness.
